Ameresco, Inc. (NYSE: AMRC) has been named winner in the “Socially Responsible Project” category at the 2025 Reuters Global Energy Transition Awards, held on June 24 in New York. The company was selected from over 600 global entries thanks to its Kūpono Solar Project, developed on the island of O‘ahu, Hawaii.
The Kūpono Solar Project is currently the island’s largest solar and battery energy storage system. The site includes a 42 MW photovoltaic plant and a 168 MWh battery storage system. It generates enough clean energy to power approximately 10,000 homes—44% of which are classified as underserved—while helping to reduce over 50,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually.
Designed with a strong focus on social and environmental impact, the project supports both local grid resilience and broader community benefits. These include biodiversity protection, access to affordable clean energy, and long-term growth through education, workforce development, and sustainability awareness initiatives.
As part of the Ameresco group, we at Enerqos proudly share the same strategic vision: accelerating the energy transition through solutions that deliver tangible, positive impacts for people, the environment, and local communities.
